This event will offer a unique opportunity to connect, reflect and co-create the future of sustainability education in higher education institutions in Denmark.
We will offer insight into the current sustainability-related courses that are available across Danish universities, as well as explore together the role of interdisciplinarity in sustainability education.
The event will give you the opportunity to share your insights into the challenges and opportunities you have encountered through your teaching. By exchanging practices, experiences and ideas across disciplines, we will pave the way for the future of sustainable education in Denmark.
Whether you are new to teaching sustainability or have been doing it for years, your experiences and insights are valuable. Let’s come together to build bridges between institutions and disciplines, share ideas, and reimagine sustainable education.

An introduction will provide the framework for the event by presenting a mapping of education for sustainability in higher education institutions in Denmark, offering insights into sustainability courses across disciplines and universities.

Framing through Student Perspectives
Students from the Danish Institute of Pedagogy and Education (DPU) will present their challenges in bringing about sustainable education in their institution.

Sustainability and Interdisciplinarity
A brief theoretical perspective on sustainability and interdisciplinarity will be presented to provide context for the following discussions.

Group discussion – Barriers and Potentials for Sustainable Education
In small groups, participants will share teaching experiences, explore disciplinary approaches, and identify key barriers and opportunities for advancing sustainable education in Danish higher education.

Return to plenum – Sharing Insights on Sustainable Education
Groups are invited to share key points from their discussions, elaborating on the barriers and potentials they have encountered in their teaching practices to help build a collective understanding of what sustainable education entails.

In small groups, participants are invited to discuss their visions for the future of sustainable education.
